Auberge L'Apéro

I will give an honest review I stayed for 3 days.... The place is a very good location. Central to downtown and close to amenities unlike the plateau or old Montreal. The owner ( I think her name is Lucy?) is very nice and accommodating. The rooms are well kept and the washrooms are modern and VERY clean. The only issue is the kitchen; it smells very musty I gag everytime coming in.. dirty dishes also...and I saw a cockroach in the sink... Generally feels dirty and looks different than in photos would highly recommend eating out Would give 4 stars if not for kitchen

Great location and communicative host. It's very small and needs updates, but its passable for the night and the bathrooms are very clean

As far as hostels in Montreal go, this one is incredibly well located!! I stayed here from Feb 5 - Feb 15 2021. I started during a lockdown of the corona virus. (I am a local that needed a place to start between apartments) Lucy is the current owner and she is super friendly, kind and thoughtful. She explained at the beginning of my stay that there would be no staff on site (because of reduced hostel capacity and staffing => #coronalife), but, that did not prevent her from ALWAYS being available for anything I need and regularly checking up on me to ensure that I had all I needed. For me, that is more important than anything else. The building is old and not very fancy, but I don't expect that going to a hostel. It's clean, though, as Lucy disinfects and cleans every inch of the room before you go in. I recommend it for anyone in a bind, and for travelers (when the virus is over of course!!)
