The ferry ride over to the island is a charming little adventure with many photo ops and a good variety of shops and restaurants to visit. Day or night a very worthwhile little journey.

The 12-minute ferry service to Laval (the other side of the river with amazing views of the city) is reliable and comfortable, but be aware that it does not run frequently so you can't just show up and expect to immediately cross to the other side. During the day, the ferries leave every 30 minutes, and only once per hour at night. Visit their website for the latest schedules and to sign up for email/SMS alerts. Tickets are very affordable ($3.65 one way, as of this writing) but you can only buy them at the ferry station. There is no app, and their website only allows you to renew a monthly pass or reserve a spot if you're bringing a car with you. Definitely allow for some extra time to buy tickets, as you might miss a ferry if you arrive at a busy time and very close to departure.

A really great ferry. Inexpensive fast and well done. We park in Lévis and enjoy the old school arriving in old Quebec. The photo opportunity is best Smooth ride
