When you go for kayak or canoe you have two choices. First is to go to the famous ''waber falls'' which will be 1.5 hour of boating and about two hours of hiking.(about total of 5 hours to get back to starting point rental office). But you can also take the second choice which is more relaxed. You can boat strait ahead along the lake and after about one hour you get to two or three beaches where you can settle down and enjoy the sun and the lake view.

We came here on October 31; they’ve closed for the season, so the entrance is free, and only the southern part of the park is open. It’s a huge and beautiful park along lakes. We parked at the St jean des piles section, and hiked the Lac Solitaire (#13) trail. We didn’t expect the snow. The trail was snowy and a bit icy. It’s quite a challenge hike with many up and downs. In one point we thought we were never going to get out of the trail. It says it’s a 5.5km trail, it felt like it’s a 20km trail because of the up and downs. There are many wonderful look outs with mountains and lake views. Very rewarding but too much work for us beginner mid age hikers! The signs along the trail are very clear. It took us 6 hours to hike this trail; we were really taking our time hiking on the snow. Better to do this trail in the summer or early autumn!!
