I sort of agree there is a very artificial element to the festivities, but someone must like it because the event draws a huge crowd and not just on the sidewalk, but in all the restaurants above the street. Maybe money can't buy happiness but it sure can buy good meals, nice clothes and super fast cars, which eventually get stuck in huge traffic jam. So better take public transport to event and get off at Guy-Concordia Metro. There is a chance to see real live celebrities at this event, though it is debatable what celebrity even means these days when online influencers often have more clout over public opinion than mainstream media made celebrities, even those who drive fast cars.
