Toronto Light Festival

Made the bad decision of checking TO lights festival out this year on the coldest day ever! Some of the installations such as the fireflies and cloud swings were very fun. Previous years were definitely better than this year and some of the installations weren’t even working, so was disappointed.

I loved it! ,however last year was more fun!

This is the third year of this annual festival running Jan and Feb at the Toronto Historic Distillery District. The lights come on sundown to 9pm/10pm. It features many different artists from around the world. The exhibits are immersive with some that includes participation like this year's Cloud Swing (where people swing under light clouds). Each show piece is very different in theme and they are different over the years. I've been all three years. For some reason, the nights chosen have always been cold (at least my fingers freeze when taking pictures/videos! Luckily there are shops and restaurants you can enter to warm up.

Had a nice atmosphere

I went on a day that was far too cold but at least the crowds were thin. Overall I enjoyed walking around and looking at the different exhibits! Each had their own charm. My friends found previous years to have better installations, but there were some nice exhibits to check out this year too (like the dancing fairy lights, 'box' of hanging lights that you can walk into, various neon signs, and a spinning display that looks like a lotus flower opening and closing). Unfortunately some exhibits weren't lit (including the colourful sunflower), so I didn't get the full experience, but that's ok.
