Welcome back to our 2019/ 2020 dance season! Dates for fitting of dancewear and payment arrangements of fees at the studio are: August 28th & 29th, 4:30- 8:30pm September 3rd, 4th & 5th, 4:30- 8:30pm Please make sure you bring your child with you for dancewear fittings. Competitive dancers will be measured Monday September 16th and Tuesday September 17th, 5:30-8:30pm at the studio. Please wear appropriate dancewear to facilitate the measuring. Summer camp is back for 2020! For dancers age 5-10 who are interested in continuing to dance during their Summer holidays, SDA is excited to offer our Summer Dance Camp! Two different weeks of full day (9:00am-4:00pm) or half-day camp are available, July 6-10th and July 27-31st. Dancers will work on tap, jazz, acro, hip hop, creative movement, stretch & strength, crafts, historical dances and participate in an “end-of-week” performance! The SDA competitive team is an added dimension to any dancer’s training, and provides dancers with the enduring thrill of performance. Dancers gain confidence, learn time management skills, and make lifelong friendships. Each student is challenged by their choreographer to work for his/ her personal best. SDA offers a pre-competitive group, to give our youngest dancers a taste of the competitive team, travelling to 3 competitions per year. Auditions: Calling dancers of all ages!

Do you enjoy performing? Are you prepared to work extra hard? Are you a team player? If the answer is yes, then you are ready to find out more about joining the SDA Competitive Team. Auditions for new members for the 2019/2020 Competitive Team will be held on Friday May 10, 2019. All interested dancers must take the Ballet Audition, and may choose which other disciplines they are interested in including Jazz, Acrobatics, Tap, Musical Theatre and Hip Hop. Somerville holds an annual recital each year in May, at the Richmond Hill Center for the Performing Arts. Recital is an important component of a dancer’s training – allowing them the opportunity to perform on a real stage, with full hair, makeup, and custom-made costume. Dancer’s build confidence and are excited to take part in a large-scale production. For our parents and families, recital is a memorable milestone where they view the progress their child has made over the year.
